Mechanical Systems I

Covered Courses

 MENG 450L

Covered Topics

Kinematics and dynamics of machinery such as Linkages of Cranes, Engine     Dynamics, Cams, and Gears. This course is an ideal vehicle for introducing     mechanical engineering students to the process of design, since mechanisms     tend to be intuitive for the typical mechanical engineering student to visualize        and create. The purpose of this course is to explore the kinematics and     dynamics of machinery in respect to the synthesis of mechanisms in order to     accomplish desired motions or tasks, and also the analysis of mechanisms in     order to determine their rigid-body dynamic behavior. Then techniques of analysis

mechanism will be investigated. It is hoped that this approach will help in     developing the students’ ability to design viable mechanism solutions to real,     unstructured engineering problems by using a design process.
